3rd Term - Third Deadline

Authors: Rafael Tschaeppaet, Tobias Miranda

The last weeks we have been working with a Video Editor called VSDC. We had to create a video with certain content guidelines and following a criteria.  The project was a little difficult because it was our first time using that video editor which was a little complex, but at least it was free so we could continue working with the project at home. Besides the video, as the last time, we recorded a made-up interview with Audacity and uploaded it to SoundCloud. For this project we also had to apply the First and the Second Deadline requirements.

This is the made-up interview which we uploaded to SoundCloud:

The past weeks be have been working again on cryptography these time we were asked to make a video with the VSDC Free Video Editor. In this post I will be giving a brief introduction to cryptography.

What is cryptography?

Cryptography is the science of providing security for information. It has been used historically as a means of providing secure communication between individuals, government agencies, and military forces. Today, cryptography is a cornerstone of the modern security technologies used to protect information and resources on both open and closed networks.

During these last weeks we have been working basically on the same "roots" of cryptography we had already been working on the weeks before. What we were supposed to do this time, was to record a video of ourselves as well as creating an audio file using audacity. In that video we were assigned to ask a couple of questions regarding a bit of a "deeper" analysis on cryptography and the caesar cipher.

To understand better about this theme, we searched for a short video that communicated to us the information that we needed. So we found two interesting videos, that we will share with you.

In addition to this video, we made an own video explaining what we get about cryptography.

And last of all is our audio file created with audacity:

Here are some screenshots of the video during creation time:

In the last weeks we have been working on the last project of the year. In this project, using the same requirements of the first and second deadline, we did a video with the app VSDC Video Editor. This Video is about the different ciphers. We made three questions and anwsers like an interview and we record also an introduction to the topic. We did not only record a video, but also we recorded a audio with Audacity. Its not the first time that we used Audacity we already used it in the last deadline and first term. Like the video, the Audacity also include three other question and answers.

This is the Soundcloud Interview:

On the last 2 weeks we have been working on a Khan Academy game. In this game what we have to do is decode encrypted messages, it has been very difficult because we need to discover the way that the words are encrypted, we wrote all the information that we found out during the game on a sheat of paper, we couldn't solve any Clue yet. The first Clue was in the discover, it was a paper written with a coded text with lines, this lines are like clock hands but we don't know yet. The second Clue was in Clue#1, it was a paper too but it was written with normal letters but the text doesn't make any sense, so we have to figure out what does it mean.

To discover this clues, we are using the Caesar Cipher, that is explained in the next Concept.

We kept working on this activity but we moved forward to ''the next level''. At the beginng we made a activity with the other groups. In this activity we anwser a question that Anselmo made to us, we "dreamt", think many ways to anwser it and we design a model for organasing our ideas. Then we worked with Khan Academy and we solved the clues 3 and 4. This time we used other cryptography, Polybius cipher. We found very dificult to decipher because this time was with numbers. At the end we made questions and we anwered them, with this questions and anwsers we made a interview and we recorded with audacity.

Here we are again. There's been 2 months now that we've been working on cryptography and, I have to say, it's been pretty hard to get the hang of it, but once you get, it gets a hell of a lot easier. And actually kind of fun. By this point I was able to solve 2 out of the 4 puzzles presented on the khan academy website. Besides that I've acquired a lot of knowledge about how encrypting, decrypting, code breaking and some encrypting technics work pretty much down to the core. There will still be a third report on this presenting the final solutions, but for now I will be presenting a bit of the path we followed to solve them

For the past weeks we had been working with Khan Academy specially on the topic Cryptography. We had to solve clues which had hidden messages in it which we had to decrypt. Now we moved on with Cryptography and we are learning about Dream and Design skills. We had to create a ''made up'' interview with a partner about 3 questions regarding Dream and Design skills. The Interview had to be done following certain criteria. Now i'm going to show you which questions were in the interview.

Second Deadline

In the last couple of sessions of computing we have been working with Kahn Academy on some new topics, that are very interesting. The last two weeks we've mostly been working with some new skills we have learned in class, which are dream and design skills, as well as some kind of deeper analysis about about the topic from the last deadline; Cryptography and some topics related to it. What we were supposed to do in this assignement, was basically to record an audacity interview using the questions and answers we had already written for the last deadline. It helped us fix the concepts we had already learned about audacity and the ways to decipher encrypted messages.

These are the questions and answers we used for the interview:

In this past weeks we learn about the Cryptography, it's a way to cipher messages in a secret code that not many people can understand. First of all we did a recording memo, where we explain about Crypto, to this we wanted to add, some pictures and videos, so you get how it works. All this information that we learnt, was by the challenge on Khan Academy called "Cryptography Challenge 101". This challenge is for all ages, it does not assume you have any knowledge. The game starts with a story that hook us up, and made us want to know what the encrypted messages says, with every message was a different code.

At next, we will show the Blooms Questions that we found essential...

Finally, we want to share a video, which show you a resume of what we explain

Last but not least, our Interview

3rd Term - First Deadline

In the past two weeks we have been working with Khan Academy to learn about Cryptography.  Cryptography is a method of storing and transmitting data in a particular form so that only those for whom it is intended can read and process it. In Khan Academy our goal was to solve a series of clues with encrypted messages by decrypting them.
For a better understanding about what Cryptography is i'll leave you this video here.
